Places to Stay in the area:
There are too many hotels, bed and breakfasts and spa in the immediate area to mention here, but we have listed a few of the historic ones. The Sonoma Hotel was built in 1880 as shops and a community hall. It was purchased by the Sebastiani family in 1920 who opened it as a hotel. It has 16 guest rooms beautifully restored in the French Country style with fully modern amenities. The El Dorado Hotel is done in a very modern, almost minimalist style with rooms in the hotel and bungalows in the rear of the century old historic building. The Swiss Hotel was actually the home of General Vallejo’s brother, Don Salvador Vallejo. It has been owned and operated by the current family since 1923 and is fully retrofitted to modern amenities but with a style true to its historic past.
There are four spas in or near downtown Sonoma; Mac Arthur Spa and the Lodge at Sonoma, both just off Broadway south of town, the Cottage Inn and Spa is located just north of the plaza, and the Best Western Sonoma Valley Inn and Spa is just west of the plaza. They all offer comfortable rooms for your stay and different versions of the spa experience including aromatherapy, message, facials, body wraps, steam baths, etc. Continued ... |
